Abstract
Green Banking means promoting environment-friendly practices and reducing carbon
footprint from banking activities. This study aims at determining and knowing the
customers’ perception and awareness level towards Green Banking at Janata Bank Limited.
Data were collected using a structured questionnaire distributed to 180 customers of Janata
Bank Ltd. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution. The result shows that the
customers’ knowledge towards Green Banking is still at the average level (47.56%).
However, 67% of the customers are already aware that Green Banking is an environment
friendly system. Association identification between variables and awareness level is
performed by using Chi Square test. Analysis shows that there is a cross association between
awareness level: age and educational qualification. Within level of satisfaction only one
variable has the agreed value that is cost-effective services and network coverage and overall
on benefit. Lack of speeding up awareness creates customer ignorance. Electronic and print
media can be used to eradicate such customer ignorance. Keeping the website up to date,
educating through the Bank’s, improving outlets, increasing mass communication, choosing
eligible human resources, influencing continuously to use Green Banking services are the
suggested improvement areas
